Overview

About this product

Bedding sand is a clean, screened coarse sand that screeds to a flat plane and compacts evenly, the layer that determines whether paving stays flat or grows lips and puddles. The same properties make it the standard bed and surround for stormwater and utility pipe where fine support is specified.

Available washed for the fussiest paving work, by the tonne or truck, alongside crusher dust where a binding bed is preferred.

How much do you need?

Sand is supplied by the tonne. As a guide it weighs around 1.5 tonnes per cubic metre, so multiply your area by the depth for the volume, then by the density. Tell us the job on the quote form and we will work out the tonnes and price the delivery.

Worked example
~4 t at 50mm

50 m² × 0.05 m deep = 2.5 m³ × ~1.5 t/m³

Common questions

What is bedding sand used for?
A fine, even sand laid as the bed beneath pavers and pipes. It screeds flat and compacts to a true, stable surface so the units sit level and stay put.
How thick should a bedding layer be?
Paver bedding is typically 25mm to 40mm screeded sand. Pipe bedding depth follows the trench detail. Tell us the area and depth and we will work out the tonnes.
How is it delivered, and can I track it?
It is supplied loose by the tonne and delivered by tipper across Victoria, sized to your site access. Every load is GPS-tracked in NXT Control so you can see it from the yard to your gate.
