Overview

About this product

Capping is the transition layer between bulk earthworks and engineered pavement: a finer crushed product placed over fill or rubble to seal the surface, shed rainfall and provide a uniform platform for sub-base construction.

The 20mm grading trims and compacts to tight level tolerances, the difference between a fill that survives a wet week and one that turns to porridge. Natural or recycled supply, scheduled with your bulk material so it lands in sequence.

Supply & delivery

Bulk

Tipper & truck and trailer

Full loads to open sites, sized to your access and the day's program.

Bulk

Truck & quad

Maximised payload where site access and mass limits allow it.

Tracked

Live in NXT Control

Every load GPS-tracked from the weighbridge to your gate, with the tonnes on the docket.

Bridging

Over soft subgrade

Placed and compacted to stabilise variable ground before pavement works.

How much do you need?

As a guide, this material weighs around 2.1 tonnes per cubic metre. Multiply your area by the layer depth to get the volume, then by the density. Tell us the area and depth on the quote form and we will convert it to tonnes and price the delivery for you.

Common questions

What is capping used for?
A coarse, durable layer placed over soft or variable subgrade to bridge it and create a stable working platform before pavement construction.
What size should I use?
Larger gradings such as 40mm bridge softer ground; 20mm suits thinner correction layers. We can advise to your geotechnical requirements.
How is it delivered, and can I track it?
We deliver Victoria-wide by tipper, truck and trailer or truck and quad depending on your access and quantity. Every load is GPS-tracked in NXT Control so you can see it from the weighbridge to your gate.

Need rates for 20mm Capping?

Tell us the volume, the site and the program. Every load is tracked live through NXT Control, from quarry to your gate.
