Overview

About this product

14mm scoria is the default drainage backfill in Victorian landscaping and civil work: light enough to barrow and place by hand, open enough to keep water moving against walls and into slotted pipe. Its vesicular structure gives enormous void volume per tonne.

Behind retaining walls it halves the load that dense rock would impose; over podium slabs it keeps structures light. Available natural red-brown or black, by the truckload.

Common questions

Why use scoria instead of rock?
Scoria is a lightweight volcanic rock, roughly half the weight of basalt and naturally free-draining, which suits drainage and load-limited applications.
What is 14mm scoria used for?
Subsoil and agricultural drainage, pit surrounds and free-draining backfill, as well as a distinctive decorative ground cover.
How is it delivered, and can I track it?
We deliver Victoria-wide by tipper, truck and trailer or truck and quad depending on your access and quantity. Every load is GPS-tracked in NXT Control so you can see it from the weighbridge to your gate.
