Melton Christian College, Toolern Vale campus expansion

Aerial view of Melton Christian College's Toolern Vale campus: the new building and turfed areas of the expansion alongside the existing school, shade sails over the playgrounds, with farmland beyond

Melton Christian College is adding a new building, a sports court and new grounds to its Toolern Vale campus, next to the existing school. We supplied the landscape and civil materials for the works and carted the clean fill from the earthworks off site.

The site is on the north-western edge of Melbourne, where the suburbs run out into farmland. The expansion is one new building, a new sports court, the hard and soft landscaping around them, and a lot of turf. The school stayed open while it was built.

What came out, what went in

The cuts for the building, the sports court and the turfed areas produced roughly 2,000 cubic metres of clean fill, which we loaded and carted to a licensed tip as the earthworks moved. Roughly 1,500 cubic metres of product came the other way for the landscaping. Where the program allowed, a truck tipping fill off site came back with product on, which kept the number of movements through a school entrance down.

Trucks through a school gate

Every load was tracked live, so the site team could see where each truck was on the map and knew when the next one was ten minutes out. That meant the gate and the traffic were sorted before a truck arrived, and the crew was ready to tip or load it the moment it pulled in, rather than having trucks waiting at a school entrance or anyone guessing when the next load was due. Every load went out on a docket.

If you have a school, a park or a subdivision with fill to get rid of and product to bring in, we can run both sides of it on one account, with a docket for every load. Send us the scope or see the rest of our project history.
